Wine Wednesday - Caymus

One the many things I love about my job is the training. Training because as a foodie it's my job to try various wonderfully crafted dishes and pair them with wines. So just this week, I was tasked to try a few vineyards. One of the vineyards I had the privilege of tasting at was Caymus. Not the first time I've had Caymus's wines but it was my first time at their vineyard. Caymus is located in Rutherford, California. It took me about 3 hours driving north from Santa Cruz. It's a beautiful drive to Rutherford with the autumn foliage and beautiful views. The Caymus 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon was one of my favorites and is full of flavors of boysenberries, blackberries, with tones of mocha. I thought it would pair perfectly with rack of lamb or even a grilled vegetarian penne pasta dish. This is an amazing Cab. At $50 a tasting tasting Caymus is not something I can do each week but I would if I could.
